Meta AI is taking global communication into a new era with its “Seamless Communication” AI models. This means now you can say goodbye to holding up your phone and asking Google to translate.
The flagship model, Seamless, combines three neural networks for real-time translation across a staggering 100+ languages and even picks up on subtle nuances.
Here’s how it works:
SeamlessExpressive: Keeps your unique way of talking and the feelings in your voice even when it’s translating.

The possibilities of this technology are endless – aside from feeling confident when ordering dinner in foreign restaurants (I ordered the sushi, not the spaghetti!)
Imagine real-time multilingual conversations through smart glasses or the automatic dubbing of videos.
Seamless even went the extra mile to address bad actors. The researchers have implemented safety measures to curb misuse because you know… humanity.

Uber Eats Restaurants Are Using AI Images
Uber Eats is in hot water as it seemingly forces restaurants to adopt AI-generated food images for their menus, resulting in bizarre and laughable outcomes.
A Twitter user, ‘@realonlineboy,’ shared screenshots of a pizza restaurant’s Uber Eats menu, revealing hilariously inaccurate representations of food items.
One noteworthy example was an image labeled as “pie,” which turned out to be an actual fruit pie rather than pizza.
Uber Eats is using AI for pictures of food. It doesn’t know that “pie” means pizza, and it invented a brand of ranch dressing called “Lelnach” pic.twitter.com/raFZArsERN

To add to the absurdity, one dish introduced a fictional dressing named “Lelnach,” with distorted lettering characteristic of AI-generated content.
The post gained traction, with Justin Whang sharing his own findings, including an odd depiction of what appeared to be an alphabet soup pizza hybrid, humorously dubbed as containing “ancient runes” by users.

There’s speculation that these are “ghost kitchens” or the restaurants are doing it themselves, but upon calling the owners, they’re as baffled and confused as the users placing the order.
The real question: Did Uber Eats sneakily roll out an AI-powered image generator for menu items without pictures?
