Airlines To Pay You For Cancellations & Delays

The Department of Transportation [DOT] has introduced new regulations requiring airlines to issue refunds for cancellations, significant delays, or itinerary changes.

Under these rules, passengers must be compensated in cash or their original payment method rather than vouchers, unless they opt for travel credit or alternative transportation.

For domestic flights, changes need to exceed three hours, and for international flights, six hours.

The policy also covers refunds for fees associated with checked baggage delays and unprovided in-flight services. Additionally, airlines will need to disclose all potential extra fees upfront.
