OpenAI’s app store for GPTs will launch next week
The store’s launch, originally announced at OpenAI’s DevDay and delayed due to leadership changes, marks a significant step in AI application distribution. Developers must adhere to updated usage policies and verify their profiles to ensure compliance.

The AI Content Race: OpenAI’s Modest Bids for Media Rights
OpenAI offers publishers as little as $1 million to $5 million annually for licensing news articles to train its language models. This low amount could hinder deal-making with publishers, as they consider better offers from competitors like Apple, who are seeking broader content rights for their AI products.

It’s Samsung’s Galaxy

It’s Samsung’s world galaxy, and we’re just living in it.

Samsung is set to reveal its new Galaxy phones in San Jose on Jan. 17, it announced in a rather cool video that teases the next generation of mobile phones.

(Side note – I’m totally fanboying over their video – check it out here)

The upcoming Galaxy phones promise an “all-new mobile experience powered by AI.” While the specifics are unclear, recent developments from chipmakers like Qualcomm provide context.

Samsung traditionally uses Qualcomm chips, and the new Galaxy S24 series may leverage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Series 8 Gen 3 for Android phones. These chips enable on-device AI applications, allowing tasks like running AI chatbots without internet connectivity for increased privacy.

Qualcomm’s technology also supports generating images based on text input, similar to Google’s Tensor G3 chip. The Pixel 8 Pro, for instance, utilizes Google’s Gemini Nano AI model to create replies, transcribe conversations, and enhance photos and videos.

The bottom line, with Samsung’s latest Galaxy phone, Apple is officially on notice. Cheers to AI, coming to the common man.
