Sam Altman Found Himself A New Job

The last 72 hours have been a whirlwind, but the storm is finally calming.

What the hell happened?

> Sam is removed by board for lack of “candid communication.”
> Employees revolt with many quitting and others threatening to.
> The CTO, investors, and Microsoft try to get things back to normal.
> Board digs in heels, declines bringing Sam back, and disrupts their $90bn valuation.
> Uno reverse card played, exiled CEO [Sam] and all loyal employees join Microsoft to ensure they don’t join a rival company.
> And, Elon Musk launches largest rocket ever built into space.

Talk about a wild ride…

Here’s What You Should Know…

Yesterday, was a relatively slow day in the world of AI, with no major announcements or breakthroughs. However, there were a couple notable developments, including:

  • Google AI researchers published a paper on a new method for training large language models (LLMs) to generate more realistic and coherent text. The new method, which is called “chain of thought” prompting, involves breaking down a complex task into a series of smaller steps and then prompting the LLM to perform each step one at a time.
  • A new study by researchers at the University of Oxford found that AI models are more likely to be biased against women and minorities than human experts. The study found that this bias is due in part to the fact that AI models are trained on data that is itself biased.
