OpenAI X Account Hijacked for Cryptocurrency Scam
An official OpenAI X account was hacked to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency token called “$OPENAI” on Monday. The hacked account posted about a token bridging AI and blockchain technology and pointed users to a fake OpenAI website.
The post claimed that holding the token would grant access to future beta programs. Users were prompted to connect their crypto wallets, a step that likely would have led to financial loss.
The post has since been deleted, and OpenAI hasn’t commented on the situation.
X Allows Blocked Users to View Your Public Posts
BREAKING: X is about to remove the current block button, meaning that if an account is public, their posts will be visible to the blocked users as well!
— Nima Owji (@nima_owji) September 23, 2024
X (formerly Twitter) will now allow users you’ve blocked to see your public posts, though they won’t be able to interact with them.
Elon Musk confirmed the change, noting that blocking will prevent engagement but not visibility. Previously, blocked users could not view profiles or posts.
This new update could increase the likelihood of blocked users continuing to harass others by viewing their content, although they won’t be able to reply or interact.
