During the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, all eyes were on Simone Biles, but another set of eyes — high-tech cameras by Fujitsu — were capturing her every move.
Since 2017, Fujitsu has collaborated with the International Gymnastics Federation [FIG] to develop an AI gymnastics judging system.
Initially using lidar technology, the system now employs high-definition cameras to create 3D models of gymnasts in action, providing a secondary, unbiased evaluation when disputes arise.
The Judging Support System [JSS] aids in calculating difficulty scores, ensuring fairer and more transparent scoring.

Elon Musk shared a deepfake video spoofing Vice President Kamala Harris on X, and it’s pretty convincing.
The altered campaign video made it seem like Harris said things she obviously didn’t, such as calling herself “the ultimate diversity hire” and referring to President Joe Biden as “the ultimate deep state puppet.”
The original account had labeled the video as a parody, but Musk’s repost simply said: “This is amazing,” with a laughing emoji.

Meta fully launched their a new tool called AI Studio, allowing users in the US to create AI versions of themselves on Instagram and the web.
These AI profiles can interact with followers, respond to comments, and engage in chat threads, effectively acting as digital representatives for creators and business owners.
Users can customize their AI based on their Instagram content, specify topics to avoid, and set auto-replies.
AI Studio also enables the creation of entirely new AI characters that can be used across Meta’s apps, competing with startups like Character.AI and Replika.
