The EU’s Digital Markets Act [DMA] is enforcing major changes on Big Tech, targeting giants like Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, and Microsoft to combat total market control.
Key changes include Apple allowing alternative app stores on iOS, Meta making WhatsApp work with other messaging apps, and Google enabling EU users to control data sharing.
One example [shown in the tweet above] is Apple’s latest DMA-compliant update which doesn’t lock you into using Safari. You get to choose your default browser from a randomized list upon start up.
OpenAI’s Text-To-Video Generator Available This Year
OpenAI is set to release Sora to the public later this year.
This tool, which has been initially available to visual artists, designers, and filmmakers, can create hyper realistic scenes from text prompts.
Mira Murati, OpenAI’s CTO, mentioned in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the release “could be a few months” away and revealed plans to enhance Sora with sound for more realistic scenes.
The operation of Sora is noted as “much more expensive” compared to other tools like DALL-E, but OpenAI intends to offer it at similar costs.
