OpenAI Forms Independent Safety Board

OpenAI has announced the formation of an independent Safety and Security Board that has the authority to delay or halt the release of new AI models over safety concerns.

The board, which consists of members of OpenAIā€™s broader board of directors, will receive regular briefings on major model releases and safety evaluations.

This decision follows a 90-day review of OpenAIā€™s safety processes and is aimed at increasing transparency and collaboration within the AI industry.

Amazon Employees Required To Return To Office

Amazon employees will be required to work from the office five days a week starting in January 2025, as announced by CEO Andy Jassy.

The policy shift comes after a period of hybrid work that began in May 2023. Jassy emphasized the benefits of in-office work, while exceptions will be made for certain remote workers.

Amazon plans to increase the ratio of individual contributors to managers by at least 15 percent, signaling potential organizational restructuring.
