OpenAI Partners With Arizona State University
Yes, you read that right: ChatGPT is officially going to college… not that college students haven’t already been using it. 😉
ASU plans to utilize ChatGPT Enterprise in a multitude of ways, including:
- Building personalized AI tutors: These tutors will offer subject-specific support, focusing on STEM subjects but catering to various study topics.
- Providing writing assistance: ChatGPT will lend a helping hand to students in ASU’s largest course, Freshman Composition, offering valuable feedback and guidance. They’ll also learn prompt engineering…but we’re biased…we think they should use Snack Prompt.
- Developing “creative study buddies”: ASU is developing AI avatars that sing about science or write poems about chemistry, making learning fun and interactive. (Personally, this would drive me crazy.)
No word yet if we’ll see OpenAI at a frat party… ASU’s other pastime..

50% Working At Studios Already Using AI
The 2024 State of the Industry report from the Game Developers Conference, surveying over 3,000 industry professionals, reveals that nearly half of the respondents are already using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, DALL-E, GitHub Copilot, and Adobe Generative Fill in their workplaces.
However, a significant minority either have no interest in these tools or work in companies that have banned them. Ouch.
The survey shows varied levels of AI tool adoption across different studio departments, with business and finance showing the highest usage.
Despite the widespread adoption, there is considerable concern about the ethical use of generative AI in game development, with 42% of respondents being very concerned and another 42% somewhat concerned.
Opinions are split on what the impact of AI tools on the industry will be, but the primary uses for AI tools mentioned are coding assistance, content creation efficiency, and automation of repetitive tasks – which seems to be a very positive effect.
Meanwhile, the report also shows that there has been a steep decline in interest among developers in blockchain technology, so I guess that means play-to-earn isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
