The first step was AI elements for Facebook & Instagram ads, and now theyâre focusing on the creator & consumer aspect of the app.
Whatâs new?
- Generative AI Stickers: A new tool to create custom graphics based on text prompts for your posts and stories.
- Visual Editing Tools: Use an âAI Brush”â to replace parts of your image or fill in the gaps, or âRestyleâ sections of your upload by using text prompts.
- AI Chatbot: I donât think we really need another Snapchat bot, but it seems like Instagramâs bot will do a better job with answers & advice.
- Message Summary: Donât want to read a wall of DMs? AI will read through the content to provide a fast summary.
Not only are they adding all these AI features & tools, theyâre also adding greater transparency around AI content with new labels that would explain when an image was made by AI.
Thereâs no word from Meta on when these elements are coming, but you can expect to see more AI functions emerging in your feed sometime soon.

How do you start using plugins?
Sadly, plugins are restricted to GPT-4.

What plugin should you use first?
There are hundreds of plugins, so Iâve consolidated this list to the most generally useful options.
- Prompt Perfect: When activated, you type âPerfectâ before you enter in your request, and this system will optimize the prompt to [hopefully] create a better response.
- Video Insights: If you want to learn from a YouTube video but donât have the time to watch, you can drop the link into ChatGPT with this plugin enabled and it will lay out a brief description of whatâs going on.
- Link Reader: This works the same as Video Insights but for articles or PDFs. Copy & paste the URL and let the plugin go to work.
- Wolfram: All math problems/questions will be directed to Wolfram to be solved and then explained step-by-step.
- Instacart: Why use the app when you could ask ChatGPT to order all the relevant groceries for you? Ask it to make you a weekly meal plan, list all ingredients, and then buy them!
- Kayak: Similar to Instacart, Kayakâs plugin adds a trip planning functionality to ChatGPT. You can ask it to book hotels to improve your vacation strategy.
