University Allows Generative AI 🎓

Arizona State University is the first law school to allow generative artificial intelligence for their applications.

Finally, somebody is using their brain.

“Our law school is driven by an innovative mindset… we will enhance legal education and break down barriers that may exist for prospective students.”

Willard H. Pedrick Dean & Stacy Leeds
Imagine how effective law students will be with the assistance of AI, and how that will ultimately trickle into post-graduate law [i.e. real-world cases].

Many people may see this as a downside, but law is a lot of legal research, drafting documents, legal analysis, court fillings, briefs, arguments, and more – maybe AI is exactly what we need to streamline the legal system.

Is ChatGPT Cheating? 😈

In traditional education, it’s totally normal to feel drained & anxious.

Every day is filled with busy work, and you’re expected to retain information like a sponge only to be rinsed and squeezed the following week.

Quizzes, homework, extra credit, finals…

It’s a never ending stream of things to do.

Hell, the only reason why I didn’t do well in college was because I struggled to find time for school work after the 80+ hours per week of career work.

But AI is changing all of that.

At Harvard, ChatGPT quickly found its way onto student browsers, and in the midst of finals week, nearly every learner could be found with a ChatGPT tab opened.

The Dean of Undergraduate Education, Anne Harrington, later sent out an email acknowledging the issue, and stating instructors could “use or adapt” AI responses as they saw fit.

Nothing about students using ChatGPT or Bard.

Which left a lot of room for interpretation…

And you can almost guarantee students have been leveraging that “grey area” to turn 6-hour essay compositions into 5-minute AI conversations.

However, in college or in life it isn’t about what tools you use, but about intellectual transformation.

Transforming yourself into the best person you can be to get the job done.

The only people who are mad about technological advancements like the lightbulb, the telephone, or automobiles are those selling the previous solution.
