Biden Signs The TikTok ‘Ban’ Bill Into Law

@tiktokResponse to TikTok Ban Bill♬ original sound – TikTok

President Joe Biden has signed legislation mandating that ByteDance, the China-based parent company of TikTok, divest the app within a timeframe of nine months to a year to prevent a de facto ban in the US.

Along with the ban, they threw in a smooth $95,000,000,000 in aid funding for Ukraine — go figure.

TikTok plans to challenge this decision legally by claiming the ban is unconstitutional, and highlighting the impact this could have on the platform and its users.

Drake is facing a potential lawsuit over his use of an AI-generated Tupac soundalike in his latest diss track “Taylor Made,” which also features AI-generated vocals of Snoop Dogg.

The legal team representing Tupac Shakur’s estate has expressed strong disapproval of the unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice, describing it as a “blatant abuse of the legacy” of the late rapper.

The situation is heating up, with Tupac’s estate demanding the track be removed from the internet within 24 hours, setting the stage for a possible legal battle if the song remains available.

Reddit Updating App To Focus On Comments

Reddit is rolling out an update to its mobile app that enhances the focus on comments, making them more central to the user experience.

With this update, comments will load instantly and become the primary content users see when they click on a post’s comment icon, directly taking them to the top comment and compressing the original post into a thumbnail at the top of the screen.

This is supposed to increase engagement, but the change may cause some users to miss out on important context from the original post, especially if they’re accustomed to heading straight for the comments.

Net Neutrality Is About To Make A Comeback

The Federal Communications Commission [FCC] is poised to vote on reinstating net neutrality rules on Thursday — a potential shift back to the Obama-era internet regulations.

The expected vote follows the commission’s recent gain of a Democratic majority, enabling FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel to advance the initiative.

The restoration would reclassify internet service providers under Title II of the Communications Act, enhancing FCC oversight to ensure principles like no blocking or throttling of internet traffic are upheld.
