ChatGPT Is Getting Dumber 🧠

A new, yet-to-be-peer-reviewed study from Stanford Scientists found that all the “behavior changes” to GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 are ruining response accuracy.

A few months ago, it was fantastic at tell you the truth. Now, it tells you what you want to hear.

Soon, ChatGPT will be auditioning for the next Dumb & Dumber movie.

You’re Invited: Midjourney’s Birthday Party 🎉

Last week, Midjourney officially turned one year old. During its first year of life it evolved from trippy image generator to realistic photo album.

We’ve seen it all

For these images to look real, Midjourney made leaps and bounds to make it happen.

In February 2022, Midjourney launched the closed beta to just 500 users, and months later, on July 12th, launched the first public beta.

Now, the Midjourney Discord server supports a whopping 15+ million users who are constantly generating, upscaling, and providing real time feedback to the AI algorithm.

All of this before they’ve even launched their web application.

Like its competitors, Midjourney is not without criticism.

There are concerns over copyright since the founder admitted he didn’t receive consent from the creators of the art the model was trained.

“It’s [the dataset] just a big scrape of the Internet. We use the open data sets that are published and train across those. I’d say that’s something that 100% of people do. We weren’t picky.”

David Holz, Founder of Midjourney, in an interview with Forbes
With millions of images needed for a model of this size, that would mean millions of copyright infringements.

However, things seem to be moving in favor of these generative AI models [see AI Art Is Real Art below].

And in the future, Midjourney is hoping to offer artists the ability to opt out of their images being used in the future.

“AI Art Is Real Art,” Says Judge

The battle against AI rages on, but the tides seem to be turning in favor of generative AI tools.

On Wednesday, Judge William Orrick heard arguments from multiple artists against companies like Stability AI, Midjourney, and DeviantArt.

During the hearing, the judge appeared to side with AI companies stating that he doesn’t think the output images generated by AI are similar enough to the artist’s works.
