Apple Making Vision Pro Production Cuts

Apple is reportedly reducing its production targets for the Vision Pro headset following lower-than-expected demand.

Originally anticipating sales between 700,000 to 800,000 units in 2024, Apple has now adjusted its forecast to only 400,000 to 450,000 units — coming before the Vision Pro’s launch outside the US.

Apple is reconsidering its development timeline for a potential lower-cost mixed reality headset, which may now be delayed beyond 2025.

Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Has Multimodal AI

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses have introduced multimodal AI capabilities that enhance their functionality beyond capturing content and audio playback.

This AI can interpret images, audio, and text, aiding in tasks like identifying plants or translating signs.

While they often deliver quick and accurate identifications, they can also be confidently incorrect at times, demonstrating the limitations and quirks of AI integration in wearable devices.

FTC Has Banned Non-Compete Agreements Nationwide

On April 23, the Federal Trade Commission [FTC] issued a rule that bans new non-compete agreements in all employment contexts and voids existing agreements — except for those that apply to senior executives.

The rule is expected to come into effect 60 days after it’s finalized, and employers will have 180 days after publication to comply.

Non-compete agreements can also be voided if they don’t serve a legitimate business interest, such as protecting trade secrets or customer relationships.

The FTC’s goal is to promote competition, protect workers’ freedom to change jobs, increase innovation, and foster new business formation.

Game-Boy MagSafe Charger Looks Good

The Elago Charging Stand is designed to resemble a Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP, and while it does not offer functional buttons or a folding design, this charger stand integrates a MagSafe charger within a nostalgic, Game Boy-like casing.

The stand is a simple yet charming addition to the range of accessories enabled by magnetic wireless charging, proving that MagSafe can offer unique and enjoyable user experiences beyond its charging capabilities.

With the retirement of the lightning cable, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more people opting in for MagSafe & wireless charging devices rather than being attached to a new charging cord.
