Google’s AI Video Model May Change Everything
Google has just announced Lumiere, a new AI model that creates hyper-realistic, i-can’t-believe-this-sh*t-is-real videos.
Every so often, there’s an announcement that changes the way we view technology. First, it was ChatGPT, then it was a DALL-E 2, and now, my friends, I believe Lumiere is the next moment.
Lumiere is a scroll-stopping video generation model that surpasses current limitations (Pika Labs & Runway) and empowers users with unparalleled creative control.
Unlike existing models that struggle with choppy motion and lack of temporal consistency, Lumiere generates fluid, five-second video clips in a single pass using its innovative “space-time” architecture.
For clarity, aside from making it sound like Star Trek, this just means Lumiere creates the entire 5-second video at once instead of keyframes. This allows it to create hyper-realistic motion, eliminating those jerky/morphing transitions that plagued earlier attempts with other AI video platforms.
In short: It’s next-f*cking-level.

Joe Biden’s AI Science Project Gets Pledges
The National Science Foundation (NSF), along with a consortium of government agencies and leading tech giants, is aiming to democratize AI research across the United States.
The National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) emerged as a beacon of this vision.
It promised to provide AI researchers with unprecedented access to a treasure trove of resources: AI models, computing power, datasets, software, and training.
This was not just any initiative; it was a pilot program designed to break down the barriers to advanced AI research, making these resources accessible to a wider community of U.S.-based researchers.
NAIRR’s launch was a bold step towards ensuring the U.S. remained a global leader in AI innovation. Researchers across the country could now apply for access to NAIRR, with a second call for proposals eagerly anticipated in the spring.
Beyond the NSF, agencies like NASA, NIH, NIST, and even the Department of Defense were involved. Even the private sector too had stepped up, with giants like Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon Web Services, Google, and OpenAI, among others, committing resources and expertise.
Microsoft and Nvidia, in particular, showcased their commitment. Microsoft’s generous donation of $20 million in Azure credits and access to its Azure OpenAI Service models was a game-changer.
This initiative is about igniting economic growth, shaping international standards, and empowering the nation.
