MIT Says AI Won’t Take Your Job

Finally a bit of good news for a rainy day: Researchers at MIT found that despite its advancements, AI is still far too expensive for most companies to justify automating most tasks, especially in the realm of computer vision.

In other words, breathe easy – the future is going to be ok.

Researchers at MIT FutureTech, along with The Productivity Institute and IBM, conducted a detailed analysis of tasks viable for automation, focusing on computer vision tasks like inspecting ingredients in a bakery or checking packages in a warehouse.

Their model took into account the actual costs of developing and deploying AI systems, finding that only 23% of wages currently paid for these tasks could be realistically saved through automation.

This contrasts sharply with other reports predicting AI-driven job displacement of up to 60%.

Which, of course, is good news.

Many people are worried about the disruption of AI. However, we at Snack Prompt believe that AI is the greatest assistant money can buy.

But is in fact that – an assistant – nothing more, nothing less.. It still requires human input to get the most out of the tool.

AI – A Land Filled With Unicorns

In just two short years, ElevenLabs, a voice AI startup, emerged from obscurity to a valuation exceeding $1 billion. And the journey of ElevenLabs is not just a tale of financial triumph but a reflection of the transformative power of AI in modern technology.

From its inception, ElevenLabs was fueled by a vision to revolutionize voice interactions with technology.

The startup’s primary focus was on developing AI tools capable of creating realistic, custom synthetic voices, which quickly garnered attention from major investors – leading to a significant investment of $80 million from renowned venture funds such as Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital.

This influx of capital boosted ElevenLabs’ valuation, earning it the prestigious “unicorn” status, a term reserved for privately owned startups of exceptional worth.

The core of ElevenLabs’ success lies in its innovative voice-cloning technology, capable of producing lifelike voices in 29 different languages. This technology has found applications across various sectors, including content creation, gaming, education, and accessibility, illustrating the broad impact of AI in diverse fields.

With fresh funding, ElevenLabs is poised to expand its research and development further, focusing on enhancing AI dubbing and other voice technologies.

However, the vision of CEO Mati Staniszewski extends beyond mere technological advancement; it’s about using AI to bridge language barriers and make content universally accessible.
